All the events of the Violin Competition. It starts with an exceptional trio: De Angelis, Dindo e Cattarossi.

From Sunday 26 September to Saturday 2 October, the City of Vittorio Veneto Violin Competition Prosecco DOC International Prize gets into the thick of things.

A full lineup of appointments for participants from all over Europe who will compete in the preliminary rounds until the winner is proclaimed. But the Violin Competition is also a cultural and tourist event for the area, with events of interest open to all.

It starts on Sunday 26 September at 8.30 pm with the inaugural concert of the Competition. An event that will see on the stage of the Da Ponte Theater a high quality trio composed by the artistic director of the Competition Francesco DE ANGELIS on the violin, Enrico DINDO on the cello and the pianist accompanying the competitors Monica CATTAROSSI on the piano. The proposed program includes pieces for piano and strings by Schumann, Debussy and Brahms. Admission € 20 and reduced € 10 for young people under 18.

From Monday 27 to Wednesday 29 September the participants in the Violin Competition will compete in the preliminary rounds, in order to be admitted to the semifinal on Thursday 30 September. The three finalists will perform at the final concert to compete for the prestigious first prize of the Competition and the related prizes. Free admission upon reservation.

The Competition will end on Saturday 2 October at 5.30 pm, with the final concert and the award ceremony. Accompanying the three soloists of the competition will be the prestigious Orchestra of the Accademia Teatro Alla Scala, conducted by Maestro David Coleman. Admission € 15  and reduced € 8  for young people under 18.

This is the flagship event of the Competition, which in the history of the event has always been an deeply felt and participated in by the citizens since its inception in 1962 and which underlines the cultural vocation of Vittorio Veneto, City of Art and City of Music.

The inaugural concert, the preliminary tests and the final concert will also be available live online on Facebook and Youtube, to allow the many fans to follow the events from home, even outside national borders. Below are the biographies of the trio protagonist of the inaugural concert:

Francesco DE ANGELIS
He is solo violin and Konzertmeister of the Teatro alla Scala and of the Filarmonica della Scala. He has established himself as one of the most talented musicians on the international music scene, highly regarded by critics. His performances are characterized by an unmistakable romantic sound that expresses the cult of bel canto, combined with the rigor of the great Central European instrumental tradition. He won the Vittorio Veneto biennial national violin competition in 1993.

Enrico DINDO
Creator and permanent conductor of the "I Solisti di Pavia" chamber orchestra, he teaches  cello at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland in Lugano, at the Pavia Cello Academy and at the summer courses of the T. Varga Academy of Sion. Since 2013 he has been Academic of Santa Cecilia and in 2014 he was appointed Music Director of the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra of Zagreb. Enrico Dindo plays a Pietro Giacomo Rogeri (ex Piatti) cello from 1717 entrusted to him by the Pro Canale Foundation.

Monica CATTAROSSI
She has won numerous awards as best accompanist and worked at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Academy of Music in Pinerolo and at the Pavia Cello Academy. She is currently a pianist for the "W. Stauffer "of Cremona and the Chigiana Academy of Siena. She combines her concert activity with teaching, as an accompanying pianist at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland in Lugano and as a teacher of Chamber Music at the "G. Cantelli ”of Novara.

The Violin Competition City of Vittorio Veneto Prosecco DOC International Prize will take place at the Lorenzo Da Ponte Theater from Monday 27 September to Saturday 2 October 2021, the day dedicated to the final with the presence of the Orchestra of the Accademia della Scala in Milan.
