The De Angelis/Cicchese/Paruzzo trio are going to perform Beethoven and Tchaikovsky

On Tuesday evening 8th August, at 9pm, it will performed the official opening of the 33rd Violin Competition “Città di vittorio veneto” Prosecco DOC International Prize. The concert will be hosted at the Teatro Lorenzo Da Ponte and will be dedicated in memory of the founder of this prestigious competition: maestro Mario Benvenuti (1915-1995), violinist and violist from Conegliano, performer and teacher of the highest profile.

The protagonist of the evening, along with cellist Amedeo CICCHESE (First Cellist of the Orchestra of the Teatro Regio of Turin) and pianist Roberto PARUZZO (Award-winning soloist who has performed with many of the most important international orchestras), is Francesco DE ANGELIS, Artistic Director of the Competition and violin soloist and Konzertmeister of the Teatro alla Scala and the Filarmonica della Scala: "We would like to open the 2023 edition with a special concert paying homage to Benvenuti, brilliant maestro, famous violinist of the Quintetto Chigiano of which we remember the violist Giovanni Leone with whom I began the my instrumental training. I dedicate to Benvenuti Tchaikovsky's Piano Trio composed in 1881 and concluded in January 1882 entitled "To the memory of a great artist". Roberto Paruzzo and Amedeo Cicchese are affectionate friends for me and they are considered among the greatest Italian chamber musicians.”

In detail, the lineup includes the Trio in D major, op. 70 no. 1 “The Ghosts” by Ludwig van BEETHOVEN, followed by the Trio in A minor, op. 50 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

In this sense, the contribution of the Consortium for the Protection of Prosecco DOC was fundamental: it responded to the appeal of the municipal administration and contributed to rebuilding and renewing the profile of the Violin Competition, emblem and point of prestige of the city for decades.
