After six years of inactivity, the Municipality of Vittorio Veneto has decided to resume the Competition and re-launch it at an international level, addressing young talents from the European Union and entrusting its artistic direction to Francesco De Angelis, an affirmed violinist (winner in 1993 of the "City of Vittorio Veneto Prize") who in 1998, after winning an international competition, was chosen by Riccardo Muti to play the role of concertmaster in both the Teatro alla Scala Orchestra and the La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra (roles he still holds today). He teaches at the Lausanne Conservatory of Music in Sion (Switzerland).
The 2021 edition of the competition will become the Violin Competition Città di Vittorio Veneto Prosecco Doc International Prize thanks to the invaluable support of the Consorzio di Tutela of the Prosecco Denomination of Controlled Origin.
