Registrations for the 33rd Violin Competition “Città di vittorio veneto” Prosecco DOC International Prize (aimed at under-28 violinists with citizenship in one of the member states of the European Union) have closed on 20th June. The prestigious musical event, which will take place in Vittorio Veneto from 22nd to 27th August, records a new record: in fact, 61 participants (out of 68 applications sent) will be admitted to the qualifying tests. Since it was relaunched, the Competition has doubled the number of entries compared to the past: in its previous form, open only to the audience of Italian musicians, it hardly reached the threshold of 30 entries.
The Councilor for Culture Antonella ULIANA: “The number of entries is already a great success in itself, as the large plateau of countries in the European Community from which the violinists come from. This is the proof of the goodness of the demanding path taken two years ago, when we had decided to restart the Violin Competition under an international view. It was a right choice".
The Competition enjoys a favorable international resonance (6 of the 7 applications were not rejected due to procedural defects, but because they came from non-EU territories) and this seems to be a particularly interesting edition for the level of the participants.
In this regard Stefano DA ROS, Artistic Coordinator and Secretary of the Jury: "In addition to the excellent result in quantitative terms, a very significant fact should be emphasized in terms of quality: reading the CVs of the registered competitors, it emerges that many of them have already received numerous prizes in prestigious national and international competitions. This double element is already projecting us towards artistic results that will certainly be high in 2023".
