A new image for the 2023 Violin Competition

The illustration for the 33rd edition was created by the famous artist Riccardo Guasco

The 33rd Violin Competition "Città di Vittorio Veneto" International Prosecco Doc Prize is about to return, aimed at under-28 violinists residing in the European Union. From 22nd to 27th August, 61 participants from all over Europe will arrive in Vittorio Veneto to compete in one of the most prestigious and followed international music competitions.

In organizing an event like this, collaborations with talented people in the field of art and culture is established to guarantee prestige and quality to the image of the Competition. In this regard, the Councilor for Culture Antonella ULIANA: “We are aware that music has the power to improve our lives, to unite peoples, to promote harmony and peace; the new image also effectively refers to these concepts. It was created for this edition by Riccardo Guasco, an internationally renowned Italian illustrator and graphic designer. In his artwork there is a violinist and two violinists with simplified lines who, shouldering their instruments, develop a dynamic vertical composition, fresh and chromatically vibrant. An intersection of shapes in movement that finds its conclusion in the symbol of our city: the Vittoria Alata (Winged Victory). And exiting behind the statue, here the notes of Vittorio Veneto, City of Music!”.

Riccardo Guasco attended and trained at the Accademia Albertina in Turin. In his works, the taste for historical poster design of the twentieth century clearly shines through, with echoes from great poster designers such as Marcello Dudovich, passing through lines with a futuristic flavor and sometimes encroaching, as a tribute, to the great painter of the Alessandria, Pietro Morando. Since the beginning of his career as a draftsman he has worked in the context of national and international advertising campaigns and in publishing, creating plates for newspapers, magazines, books and sketches for stamps such as the series for the Republic of San Marino. Guasco ranges among the most varied topics, offering his contribution for sporting goods, natural products, with some preferences for foodstuffs, or accessories such as hats and bicycles. He created the mural work “The last kilometre”, 450 square meters in homage to Fausto Coppi, on the road that leads to Castellania, the city of the Campionissimo. He has collaborated with The New Yorker, Eni, TIM, Diesel, Rizzoli, Baldini+Castoldi, Poste Italiane, Campo Viejo, Giunti Editore, Moleskine, Rapha, Thames & Hudson, De Agostini, Il Sole 24 Ore, Emergency, Greenpeace, Rai, The Espresso.
